Cinco de Mayo – eat, drink and be safe!

Cinco de Mayo is observed every year on May 5th, it is a time when the energy and excitement permeates throughout our country.  To get you into the Cinco De Mayo spirit, we thought we would throw out a few ideas to incorporate a little Mex throughout your 5th day of May…



Eat: Start your day off with a breakfast burrito – eggs, beans, cheese, salsa, can’t go wrong with that.

Drink: “Texas Mimosa” –  made up of grapefruit juice, tequila and a grapefruit twist.

Prepare: Advil – if you plan to celebrate Cinco De Mayo in style, you might want to take one of these now… and save a few for later!


Eat: Taco Salad – this is just so you can feel less guilty when you eat those nachos later on.

Drink: Mexican beer cocktail – beer, salt, pepper, lime, beer, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, hot pepper sauce, YIKES!

Prepare: Gum – Mexican food has been known to contain a few spices, so a stick of gum here and there can only be a good thing.

Happy Hour

Eat: Nachos with Guacamole – change it up the guac with – BLT guacamole, spicy basil guacamole, mango pomegranate guacamole or Cajun guacamole.

Drink: Margaritas – regular, on the rocks, flavored or frozen!

Prepare: Camera – if tequila is involved, things are most likely to get crazy and a camera will come in handy.


Eat: Quesadilla, Fajita, Tacos, Enchiladas, Chimichanga – have it all!

Drink: Cerveza – what is better than washing down all that food with a nice cold beer?

Prepare: Prilosec – spicy foods, tomatoes, alcohol… for those who know what heartburn is, you might want to buy this one by the case!


Eat: Flan is a traditional Mexican desert, sort of like a pie but with a more custard like filling OR for the Betty Crocker’s in the crowd, make your own Margarita cupcakes.

Drink: More Margaritas – Obviously!!

Prepare: Tequila =  Medical supplies.
