How often should I apply?

Jergens recommends that you apply every day until you reach the color you want, and then every other day or every three days to maintain color.

How do I keep it from looking streaky?

Will it make me look orange?

How long does it take to see results?

Allow 3 to 10 days for your tan to develop.  Once you have achieved desired results, apply every other day or every three days.

Will I still get tan from the sun?

Yes you will still get tan, Jergens Natural Glow does not contain SPF but can be used in conjunction with sunblock, makeup or other daily moisturizer.

Can I apply to my face?

With autumn’s cooler temperatures, damp weather, and windy gusts, your skin can take a beating. Unlike warmer summer weather when your skin can be oilier, in the fall you really need to concentrate on moisturizing your skin. The following tips will keep your skin smooth, soft, and supple, even during the harshest weather.

A daily moisturizer is a must, even if you have oily skin. If you have problems with your face becoming oily during the day, it doesn’t mean that your skin is adequately hydrated. You want to use a light moisturizer that will keep your skin in good condition, not skip the moisturizer altogether. Instead of skipping it, use blotting papers to remove oil without destroying your makeup.

Moisturize your skin right from the start. Use a moisturizing soap or bodywash to keep your skin smooth, soft, and supple.

Use a lotion, all over your body. Directly after your shower or bath, slather on the lotion. It will hydrate your skin better that way because you are already warm and moist, and do a better job of keeping you from drying out during the day. Use an ultra healing lotion on dry spots like elbows and knees, or if you have patches of dry or scaly skin. You’ll be happy you did so when the weather turns even cooler.

Don’t forget to moisturize your hair, as well. Using a leave in conditioner will keep the cooler weather from drying out your hair. Use a good one, especially if you use heat styling products. I am particularly fond of Chi Silk Infusion. The long hot summer is over, and with it goes summer makeup and beauty care. Fall, with its cooler weather has a whole different set of beauty problems. Here are some tips to keep you looking fresh this fall.

Hair Care

Make sure to deep condition your hair once a week. The dryer air and cooler temps of the fall can dry out your locks in a heartbeat. You don’t want your hair looking as dull as the dead leaves littering the ground. Deep conditioning treatments will keep your hair soft, shiny and healthy.

Try not to shampoo as frequently. Try every other day if you can.

Use a leave in conditioner. You might think your hair gets less damage in the autumn, but you’d be wrong. We all tend to shed more hair during the fall, so conditioner your hair and strengthen that new hair right from the beginning.

Skin care

As the winds pick up and the air grows cooler, you’re going to be more prone to dryness and chapping. Make sure you use a daily moisturizer with a sunscreen during the day. Use a night moisturizer as well, to keep down the chapping and dry skin. Also, use a moisturizing body wash, to keep the rest of your skin from drying out.

Make sure to exfoliate during the fall. You’ll avoid that flaky, dull skin you can get in cooler, windy weather. Just make sure you moisturize well afterward.

Nail care

Colder air also makes your nails more brittle. File them on a regular basis, to avoid snags or breakage. Use a nail and cuticle moisturizer to minimize brittleness and dryness.

Eye care

Just as your skin can be dryer in the autumn, so can the tender, delicate skin around your eyes. Make sure to use a moisturizer specifically for eyes. If you’ve got puffiness and dark circles, drink more water and use an eye serum.

Lip care

Your lips can be prone to chapping and peeling in the cool fall wind. Use a tinted lip balm during the day to combat dryness. For night wear, a moisturizing lip stick is best.

Are you so busy taking care of everyone else that you don’t have time to take care of yourself? It’s a common problem with women – the ‘Superwoman Syndrome’. If you put everyone’s needs at the top of the list and let yours go to the bottom, you might be setting yourself up for a fall.

In order to lead a balanced life, you need to take care of yourself, along with everyone else. Your needs are just as important, and you should remember that.

Schedule some time alone. You need time to yourself, so pencil it into the schedule. I used to have ‘Mommy time’ between 8 and 9 each night. You were not allowed to disturb me unless there was an emergency – and I defined emergencies pretty thoroughly. I usually used that time to unwind and read a book, but you can use it however you choose.

Buy something for yourself that makes you feel pretty and pampered. It doesn’t have to be expensive. Get some pretty red nail polish and give yourself a pedicure.

Get that anti aging face cream you’ve been dying to try.

Or go all out and get a gift basket of beauty products – goodies that only you are allowed to use.

Learn how to say no. No matter how strong you are, you can’t do everything. It’s not possible – there’s no such thing as Superwoman. Prioritize, and if you don’t have time, say no.

Ask for help when you need it. Again, you can’t do everything alone. There’s no shame in asking for help when you need it. Ask someone from your support system – mother, friend, sister, etc. – to help you if you’re overwhelmed. You might be surprised how much help will come.

Get plenty of exercise and eat healthy. Healthy eating habits and exercise can go a long way toward making you stronger. You need to be strong with the hectic, fast-paced life you lead. The better you feel, the easier your life will seem. You’ll look better, too – stress takes its toll on us all.

I read What Makes a Face Beautiful recently, and was surprised. Did you know that facial symmetry is a factor in beauty to our brains? To our brains, beauty has more to do with perceived good health than it has to do with aesthetics.

Beauty is also socially influenced. In simple terms, if we like someone or are close to them, that means we perceive them as more beautiful. Our spouses, daughters, and other loved ones are all more beautiful in our eyes. I’m sure this comes as no surprise to anyone.

Another thing that didn’t surprise me about this article – ‘A luminous, unblemished complexion is another factor in attractiveness… There are mainly two reasons for that: Flawless skin indicates good health and youth.’

Finally, something I can work on! I’m not able to change my genetics, but I can better (and maintain) my complexion. It’s often the first thing I notice about someone – their skin. Is it smooth and unblemished? Do they have dry skin, or does it look moist and well taken care of?

That’s not to say that a few little fine lines around the eyes make you less attractive. In my opinion, a laugh line or two just makes you more beautiful. (Of course, I might think that because I’ve got one…or two or twenty.)

How do you keep you skin looking flawless? There are three simple steps.

• Exfoliate.

When you exfoliate, you remove the dead skin cells that can make your complexion look muddy. Use a gentle exfoliating cleanser, and do it every other day. Three or four times a week is plenty, unless you have dry skin. If your skin is dry, you might want to cut that back to one or two times a week.

• Moisturize.

Moisturize daily, and start when you’re young. If you’re no longer young, it’s not too late. A daily moisturizer is a must, and it can undo years of damage. Just start now, and keep using it.

• Protect.

Protect your face (and your body) with sunscreen. The sun is your complexion’s enemy – and I’m not overstating. Look at the skin on the inside of your upper arm. See how smooth and soft it is? That’s because the sun never touches it. Use sunscreen and protect your face from UV damage. Laugh lines are great – sun discoloration and dryness, not so much.

Beauty is subjective. I find that when I feel beautiful, people perceive me as beautiful. To me, beauty has more to do with the inner woman than the outer woman. What do you consider beautiful? I’m constantly on the search for good hair products. I want my hair to be shiny, silky, and healthy. On a friend’s recommendation, I decided to try Chi Silk Infusion.

And guess what? It works.

Shiny, healthy hair is the best style for your hair. It makes you look younger and is always something you should strive for. Shiny hair is sexy. No matter what kind of cut or style you wear, it’s enhanced by healthy, shiny hair.

Here are a few tips that can help improve your shine:

Avoid drying out your hair. Over-coloring or over-shampooing can do this. Color your hair no more than every 5 to 6 weeks – I’m not talking about touch-ups, though those can be damaging as well if done too quickly. Shampoo daily only if you must. If your hair isn’t oily, try going a day without shampooing and see if it still styles and looks good.

If you must heat style, make sure to use thermal protectant shampoo or thermal protectant hair products. This keeps your hair from being damaged, and ramps up your shine.

When you do wash your hair, make your last rinse (when you rinse out your conditioner) cool water. This seals the hair cuticle and will also make your hair smoother. The smoother the hair cuticle, the higher the amount of shine you’ll get. Try this, it really works!

If you blow dry, finish with a blast of cool air, which also seals the hair’s cuticle and raises shine.

Try a shine serum for extra sheen. A lot of shine serums double as anti-frizz serums, so you get a two-in-one. If you need shine serum for fine hair, make sure to use a spray that doesn’t weigh your hair down. You can also try a finishing spray. These do double duty; they hold your style and make your hair shiny and healthy-looking at the same time.

And don’t wait to start moisturizing into you’re in your thirties or forties; you should really begin in your twenties. It will give your skin the protection it needs. It will also keep the skin of your face from prematurely aging. Don’t forget the skin of your neck and chest when you’re moisturizing. The skin there is just as delicate as the skin on your face, and they are exposed to the elements just as much. You want to protect them, as well.

What’s a good moisturizer? You want to gently add moisture to your face. The type of moisturizer you choose should be based on the type of skin you have. If you need moisturizer for dry skin, you might want to look for a product that helps the skin produce more moisture, or seals in the moisture you already have. If you need moisturizer for oily skin, you want a light moisturizer. Don’t be tempted to skip it – oil is not moisture.

Is your skin sensitive or prone to breakouts? You can find a non comedogenic moisturizer that won’t clog your pores, and won’t make your face greasy or irritated.

You also want to think about a daily moisturizer that contains a sunscreen, to cut down on the UV damage your skin receives. This is important, no matter what type of skin you have.

Start moisturizing your skin now. Don’t wait. It should be an important part of your beauty routine. No matter what your skin care regimen contains, make sure a good moisturizer is part of it.
