You’ve just colored your hair. And you absolutely hate it. What are you going to do? You can’t go out looking this way, and you can’t wear a hat until it grows out.

If you’ve had it done at a salon, and you’re not satisfied, don’t be afraid to go back and let them correct the color. Most salons will fix their mistakes free of charge. They want you to be happy, because customers who are happy keep coming back.

If your problem is bleached hair that looks brassy, and you’ve lightened your hair only a couple of shades, try a blue-toned shampoo. You can find this shampoo at any drugstore. Alternatively, you could have a colorist apply a blue toner.

If the shampoo doesn’t work, you can use a semi-permanent hair color in a similar shade to tone it down. To prevent this from happening in the future, choose an ashy shade, use a color protection shampoo and hair products with a thermal protectant.

If your hair color has faded, what color did you use? Red hair color fades faster than any other color. If it’s been at least six weeks, you can use a semi permanent color, again. Be careful – some semi-permanent colors can leave a permanent tint on bleached blonde or chemically lightened hair.
