If you’ve been admiring Blake Lively’s hair on Gossip Girl, you’re not the only one. Her hair style is fast becoming the number one requested cut in salons. Want to know how to get those sexy waves? I’ve put together a little tutorial.

Prep your hair by using a moisturizing shampoo like Kerastase Bain Satin 2. You’re going to be using heat styling, and you want your hair to be soft and silky. You’ll keep your long locks manageable and in good condition.

Gently towel dry your hair. Don’t rub – just blot or pat hair. You can wrap your head in the towel for a few minutes if you’d like. While your hair is still damp, spray the roots with a root lift spray. You want volume with this hairstyle. Blow dry your hair, starting with the roots to create ultra volume.

While your hair is drying, heat a curling iron. If you have longer hair, use a two inch. For shorter hair, use a one inch curling iron. At random, take sections of hair on each side and curl your hair away from your face. After you’re done with the sides, start on the back. Working at random again, take sections of hair and wrap them around the curling iron to curl in different directions.

Put a pea sized amount of Chi Silk Infusion in your palm and rub it between your hairs. Apply it to the ends of your hair, avoiding the roots. This makes your hair soft and silky, but doesn’t reduce your volume. If you have split ends, this will make them look healthier.

Without brushing or combing, pull your hair to the back of your head in a big bun and secure with hair pins. Leave it like this while you’re putting your makeup on or finishing getting ready. It will set your hair and give you a little extra volume. After you take your hair out of the bun, you can tease the roots a little bit for even more volume. Set with a finishing spray.

Voila! You’re done!

Summer’s almost over, and you’re ready to go back to school. How are you going to wear your hair? You want casual and easy to style, especially at first. Who wants to roll out of bed and spend hours on their hair?

These styles will get you going in a hurry and keep you looking great without a lot of fuss. Use a texturizer in your hair for maximum volume, and let your hair go a little messy and wild.

Braids

1. Tiny Braids – Take a one inch piece of hair on the side of your head and braid a skinny braid down the side of your hair, fastening it with a hair band. If you have bangs, just braid the hair right beside the bangs. if you have long bangs or no bangs, just braid the hair beside where bangs would be. Repeat on the other side.

2. Side Braid – Pull hair to one side of head, and make a low side ponytail. Secure with a hair band. Braid the ponytail loosely and pull it forward, over your shoulder.

3. Braided Crown – This looks elegant if your hair is long enough on top to do this style. Gather the whole front section of your hair right above your forehead. Braid hair, working toward the back of your hair. Secure braid with a hair band and use a bobby pin to secure it so it doesn’t move around or flop forward.

4. Braided Pull Back – Take the hair on one side of your head, right beside your bangs (or where bangs would be), about a three inch section. Braid hair, working toward the back. Secure with a hair band. Do the same thing on the other side. Once both sides of your hair are braided, use a small elastic band to hold both braids loosely together behind your head.

Pony Tails

1. Loose Side Pony – Pull hair low and to one side. Secure it with a hair band, loosely, pulling it over your shoulder so that it hangs in front. Leave your bangs messy, and leave a few strands of hair hanging out on the sides.

2. Tiny Pony Tails – Take a one inch strand of hair on each side of your head – approximately where bangs end – and make a small pony tail. Do the same thing on the other side.

3. Tiny Pony Pull Back – Pull a one inch strand of hair on each side of your head toward the back. Secure the pony tails together at mid – back with a hair band. If your hair is slippery and has a tendency to slide, make a pony tail of each one and then secure at back.

Finish all these hair styles by using a shine spray on your hair. Your hair will look adorable – shiny, glossy, and a little bit wild.

If you are tired of styling your long hair the same old way, here are some new styles for you to try out. These easy, beautiful hairstyles will make your shiny, lush locks stand out from the crowd.

Long Curls

First, wash your hair and use a deep conditioning treatment so you get healthy looking hair with great shine.

Blow dry your hair with a round brush. Then use a large barrel curling iron and roll one to two inch sections around the barrel in one direction and then again in the other direction. This will create a wavy, ripply effect.

Use shine spray to maximize your glossy locks.

Naturally Wavy

Use anti-frizz and leave-in conditioner throughout your wet hair.
Wrap a towel around your head to soak up moisture. Don’t rub – that will counteract the anti-frizz.

Unwrap and let your hair air dry. Don’t comb or brush. You’ll get sexy, natural looking waves with no effort whatsoever. If your hair seems too flat, fluff the top and ends with fingers.

Controlled Curls

Mix leave-in conditioner and hair gel to give you wild but not out of control curls. Put through hair generously, then use a wide tooth comb. Scrunch and let air dry. If you can’t wait for that, blow dry on low with a diffuser. Hit with a shine spray for beautiful, bright curls. This works beautifully for thick, coarse hair, but can be used on any hair texture. If your hair tends toward fine texture, go light on the hair products, and you’ll get the same effect.

Wild and Wonderful

Use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner. (You can skip this part if you have thick or coarse hair.) Use a texture amplifier all over, but with special attention paid to the mid length and ends of hair. Blow dry while raking your fingers through your hair. You’ll get big, beautiful hair with lots of volume, and you’ll look great.
