What To Take on A Beach Getaway Vacation

Summer is fast upon us; if you don’t already have sweltering temperatures, you’re going to get them soon. That’s not a bad thing; you can always go to the beach. Yeah! That’s my favorite part of summer…vacation! Even if you’re just going for a day, you need to stock up on supplies. Grab a reusable beach bag and fill it with the following.

Suntan lotion, sunscreen, or sunblock: Protect your skin from sun damage! (There should be more than one exclamation point after that sentence, really.) I use Banana Boat Ultra Defense Broad Spectrum Lotion SPF 30. It takes the worry out of having fun in the sun and I can splash and play in the water as I wish. It’s got Aloe and Vitamin E in it, which are both great for you skin. Just make sure you re-apply every couple of hours or so if you’ve been getting wet or perspiring. Don’t forget your face: It’s best to get a sunblock made just for faces, and Neutrogena Age Shield Face Sunblock Lotion has an SPF of 70. Wow. That’s great protection for the sensitive skin of your face and neck.

Leave In Hair Conditioner: You don’t want your hair drying out in the harsh sun. getting your hair wet repeatedly and then drying it in the harsh summer sun can cause damage, and you want a good conditioner on it. you can add leave in conditioner before and after you swim, if your hair is especially fragile. Rusk Sensories Brilliance Grapefruit and Honey Color Protecting Leave In Conditioner is perfect for a day spent in the summer sun.

Lip Balm: You know your lips are going to get dry while you’re sunbathing. You need a good lip balm to protect the sensitive skin of your lips. It’s good to have sunscreen in it, too: You can burn your lips. Did you know that?

Gum: Your mouth is going to get dry, and you’re not going to be able to brush your teeth while you’re at the beach. Gum will help, so make sure and pack some. Trident White Wintergreen whitens your teeth, freshens your breath, and tastes great.

A beach hat, and sandals or flip flops: You need a hat to protect you from the hot sun, and sandals or flip flops to protect your feet from the hot sand. If you throw it in your bag, you won’t forget to take it along. There will be no red nose, sunburned head, or sore feet for you. :)

Oh, and one other thing: If you want a nice healthy glow before you ever put that swimming suit on, try Jergens Natural Glow a week or so before you go. The lotion has essential moisturizers and gradually develops a soft natural tone, without any streaking or that ugly orange color you so often see in self tanners. It comes in two colors; Jergens Natural Glow for fair to medium skin tones and Jergens Natural Glow for medium to tan skin tones, so you’re sure to get the tone you want.
